El cinco de enero/January 5th
¡Feliz cumpleaños a ... Blanca Soto (Blanca Delfina Soto Benavides)! (1979- )
Soto is a Mexican actress who starred for two years in the Univisión telenovela Eva Luna (not to be confused with the novel Eva Luna by Chilean-American author Isabel Allende). In the telenovela, a love story set in Los Angeles, Soto plays Eva González, an extraordinarily beautiful (yet humble and hardworking) immigrant looking for a better life. She is caught up, however, in dark family secrets, lies, and deception when she begins working for an ambitious, powerful family. Good stuff! Eva Luna ran for two years in the United States (2010-2011) and has been or is being broadcast in more than 20 countries. Click HERE to see Hollywood Dailies' report on the show's finale, which was shot in Los Angeles (the show was usually filmed in Miami). The report includes an improvised telenovela scene with Guillermo, a security guard on the Jimmy Kimmel Show as well as a regular on Eva Luna.
Soto won the Feature Film Award for Best Actress in 2007 for La Vida Blanca, a short film she coproduced with Jack Hartnett (to whom she was married from 2007-2012), a "She Steals the Show" Award from Premios Juventud for her work in the Mexican movie Regresa (click HERE to see - Soto plays María, who when she suspects her husband of being unfaithful decides to do a "past life regression" at the suggestion of her friends and comes back as a princess from the 15th century), and a Premios People en Español Award in 2013 for best actress in the telenovela Porque el amor manda (click HERE to see an episode). Soto has also played the lead role in the telenovelas El Talismán and Señora Acero. She started her career by winning the beauty pageant Nuestra Belleza Mexico in 1997.
