¡Feliz cumpleaños a ... Don Omar (William Omar Landrón Rivera)! (1978-        )

A reggaeton singer and actor from Puerto Rico (who has dueled it out with Daddy Yankee, also of Puerto Rico, for the title of "King of Reggaeton" during his career), Don Omar has sold millions of albums and won many awards, including a Latin Grammy for "Best Urban Music Album" for Don Omar Presents MT02: The New Generation in 2012. In 2016, Don Omar and Daddy Yankee announced that they would go on tour together (The Kingdom Tour: Daddy Yankee vs. Don Omar) and quickly sold out many arenas. Don Omar has two sons, Derrick and Daniel, and one daughter, Diana, with ex-wife Jackie Guerrido. In this 2016 video he talks about how having children, especially a daughter, makes him reflect on his lyrics and their effects on young people. In 2017, Don Omar went to Puerto Rico to help with the recovery efforts after Hurricane Maria (he also donated a large amount of money). Radamel Falcao García (1986-       ): A professional soccer player from Colombia, Falcao was named "Sportman of the Year" by GQ Magazine in 2012 (and ESPN names him as one of the top 100 most famous athletes on the planet in this 2017 survey). The photo at right is from a December 2017 article from The Business Insider about Falcao's 40 yard goal for Monaco (click HERE for the article, which includes a video of the goal).

(1999-      ) An actor and musician who became famous playing Freddy on the Nickelodeon series School of Rock , Hurtado was born to Nicaraguan parents in Miami. He moved with his family to Atlanta, Georgia when he was one years old. Hurtado's father is a musician (a piano player with a degree in music from the University of Georgia). "Everyone on my dad's side of the family is a musician," he told an interviewer in 2016, adding that his uncle played the guitar. In the same interview , Hurtado talks about his faith and says, "My main goal in life if to be as close as I can be to God." (1902-1989) A Cuban poet, journalist, political activist, and writer of African-European descent, Guillén was known during his life as the National Poet of Cuba. Born in Camagüey, he was the oldest of six children born to Nicolás Guillén y Urra, who had fought for Cuban independence from Spain, and Argelia Batista y Arrieta. Guillén's father belonged to the Partido Libertad and founded the daily newspaper La Libertad to express his views. Government forces assassinated Guillén's father for protesting electoral fraud and closed down his printing press. After that, Guillén's family struggled financially. Guillén was greatly influenced by meeting African-American poet Langston Hughes in 1930. Hughes' enthusiasm for Afro-Cuban music inspired Guillén, who was familiar with 'son' music from his father.
