¡Feliz cumpleaños a ... Fonseca (Juan Fernando Fonseca)! (1979- )

A Colombian singer and composer who has won 6 Latin Grammy Awards and one Billboard Latin Music Award, Fonseca has five albums to his name, including 2015's Conexión. His 2012 album, Ilusión, was nominated for a Grammy (Best Latin Pop Album). Born in Bogotá, he always had an affinity for music, even recording a song and having 500 copies made for friends and family when he was only 12. He went on to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and he released his first album, Fonseca, after studying there. Fonseca has worked with Marca Colombia, a program run by the Colombian government to reeducate the world about their country. His 2018 video Simples Corazones was produced in Colombia and has many beautiful shots of Bogotá and the surrounding country (click HERE). He and wife Juliana met each other in high school and were always in touch, even when she was studying in France and Spain and he in the United States. They reunited when she returned to Colombia in 2004, and together they have two children, Paz and Manolo. In the El Tiempo interview (see link below photo, above), Fonseca tells the interviewer "Me encanta salir y montar en bicicleta con Paz y Manolo, vamos a dar vueltas, estamos en la playa, en la piscina. Para mí no hay mejor plan que estar un domingo en casa solos y disfrutar de nuestros espacios." (1999-      ) An actor and musician who became famous playing Freddy on the Nickelodeon series School of Rock , Hurtado was born to Nicaraguan parents in Miami. He moved with his family to Atlanta, Georgia when he was one years old. Hurtado's father is a musician (a piano player with a degree in music from the University of Georgia). "Everyone on my dad's side of the family is a musician," he told an interviewer in 2016, adding that his uncle played the guitar. (1902-1989) A Cuban poet, journalist, political activist, and writer of African-European descent, Guillén was known during his life as the National Poet of Cuba. Born in Camagüey, he was the oldest of six children born to Nicolás Guillén y Urra, who had fought for Cuban independence from Spain, and Argelia Batista y Arrieta. Guillén's father belonged to the Partido Libertad and founded the daily newspaper La Libertad to express his views. Government forces assassinated Guillén's father for protesting electoral fraud and closed down his printing press. After that, Guillén's family struggled financially. Guillén was greatly influenced by meeting African-American poet Langston Hughes in 1930. Hughes' enthusiasm for Afro-Cuban music inspired Guillén, who was familiar with 'son' music from his father.
