(1986- )
A professional basketball player and three time NBA All-Star from the Dominican Republic, Horford is the the son of the first Dominican to ever play in the NBA, Tito Horford. He grew up in the Dominican Republic, though when he was 14 it was decided that he would go live with his dad in the United States to give him a better shot at a college basketball scholarship. He moved to Michigan with "very, very basic English" and missing his mom, Arelis Reynoso, intensely. He ended up winning that college scholarship to play college basketball at the University of Florida, where he was the starting center on teams that won back to back NCAA championships in 2006 and 2007. He then played nine seasons for the Atlanta Hawks before joining the Celtics in 2016. He also plays for the Dominican National Team. In 2011, Horford married Amelia Vega, a former "Miss Universe" from the Dominican Republic (the two met in Boston). They have two children and in January of 2018 announced they were expecting a third (see photo, above).
