A Mexican American actress, director,  producer, and businesswoman of Spanish and Lebanese descent, Hayek began her career in Mexico starring in the telenovela Teresa. She then starred in the film El Callejón de los Milagros, one of the most award-winning Mexican films of all time (she was nominated for an Ariel award for her performance). Hayek moved to Hollywood in 1991 and soon had a string of back to back hits: Desesperado (1995), From Dusk Till Dawn (1996), Dogma (1999), and Wild Wild West (1999). She then started her own production company, Ventanarosa. She co-produced and starred in Frida, released in 2002, for which she was nominated for an Academy Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and a Golden Globe, among other honors. She then won a Daytime Emmy for directing 2004's The Maldonado Miracle. She won another Emmy in 2007 for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in Ugly Betty (she also appeared on 30 Rock from 2009-2013). Hayek won the Glamour Magazine Woman of the Year award in 2001 and the Harvard Foundation's Artist of the Year award for 2006. In 2011, France honored her with a Knight of the National Order of the Legion of Honour award. She is married to French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault, with whom she has a daughter, Valentina (2007).

Eugenio Derbez (1961-      ): A Mexican actor, comedian, and filmmaker recognized by Variety magazine in 2014 as the most influential Hispanic male in the entertainment business. His film Instructions Not Included, which he co-wrote, directed, and starred in, broke numerous box office records. He stars (as Enrique) in Under the Same Moon with Kate del Castillo and Adrián Alonso.

(1999-      ) An actor and musician who became famous playing Freddy on the Nickelodeon series School of Rock , Hurtado was born to Nicaraguan parents in Miami. He moved with his family to Atlanta, Georgia when he was one years old. Hurtado's father is a musician (a piano player with a degree in music from the University of Georgia). "Everyone on my dad's side of the family is a musician," he told an interviewer in 2016, adding that his uncle played the guitar. In the same interview , Hurtado talks about his faith and says, "My main goal in life if to be as close as I can be to God." (1902-1989) A Cuban poet, journalist, political activist, and writer of African-European descent, Guillén was known during his life as the National Poet of Cuba. Born in Camagüey, he was the oldest of six children born to Nicolás Guillén y Urra, who had fought for Cuban independence from Spain, and Argelia Batista y Arrieta. Guillén's father belonged to the Partido Libertad and founded the daily newspaper La Libertad to express his views. Government forces assassinated Guillén's father for protesting electoral fraud and closed down his printing press. After that, Guillén's family struggled financially. Guillén was greatly influenced by meeting African-American poet Langston Hughes in 1930. Hughes' enthusiasm for Afro-Cuban music inspired Guillén, who was familiar with 'son' music from his father.
