¡Feliz cumpleaños a ... Ximena Sariñana (1985- )!
A Mexican singer-songwriter, Sariñana has four albums to her name, with her first album, Mediocre, which was released in 2009, earning a Grammy nomination. Sariñana was raised in Mexico City by her
producer/director father, Fernando Sariñana, and her screenwriter mother, Carolina Rivera. She began acting early, appearing in her father's film Hasta Morir when she was 9-years old. Raised bilingual (Spanish and English), she attended the private, multi-lingual school Edron Academy in Mexico City. Though the majority of her songs are in Spanish, she performs in both Spanish and English and is based in Mexico City and Los Angeles. She has collaborated with many artists, including Jason Mraz, Miguel Bosé, Ana Torroja, Los Ángeles Azules, Natalia LaFourcade, Volován, Jarabe de Palo, and LP (see this April 2020 premiere of Girls Go Wild), and she has opened for Coldplay, Sara Bareilles, and Juanes. See her complete bio and learn about upcoming projects on her official website HERE. Sariñana has one daughter, Franca, born in 2018, and in 2020 announced that she was expecting again. In this 2019 interview with Rolling Stone about her just released album ¿Dónde Bailarán Las Niñas?, she talks about how motherhood has affected her career (pregnancy helped her get in touch with herself, and learning to take her time has helped her produce better music). On following her intuition when creating music, she says: "To me, that's how creative minds work - just jumping from thing to thing and not worrying about if the end result will satisfy anyone, but having the confidence to know that it'll work because to yourself and your life story."
